It may seem like an impossible feat to create engaging and valuable communications in just 140 characters, but it can also be seen as a challenge. With attention spans shortening every day and obsessive Internet browsing becoming the norm, Twitter could be seen as the way of the future for financial advisers.
But, of course, like so many marketing initiatives, if you’re going to tweet, you might as well do it right. And one of the most valuable tools you can use on an everyday basis is HootSuite – a simple (and free) software to manage your Twitter profiles.
For help with simplifying your tweeting, you can use HootSuite to do the following:
1. Schedule your tweets
If you don’t have the time or the budget to have a full-time social media coordinator, scheduling your tweets is an efficient way to be active on social media. Set targets that you can easily hit (for example, three or four tweets a day), and as you become more comfortable with Twitter you will want to tweet as much as possible.
2. View click-rate analytics
Once you become more comfortable with your Twitter account, you can use the analytics viewer on HootSuite to see your most popular tweets and which ones your readers engaged with. If you’re using Twitter to share your products and services, it’s important to see that your links are driving your audience to your website. If you notice that some tweets are getting more clicks than others, you can start to optimise the copy, timing and style of the tweet.
3. Follow industry leaders and keywords
HootSuite is a great tool to follow industry leaders, industry keywords and influential people. You can set up your profile to show a stream so you can easily share their tweets to your audience. It’s a great (and easy) way to build your credibility in the industry by curating interesting content for your readers.
4. Manage multiple accounts
Finally, sync up multiple accounts to one HootSuite profile. It saves time and effort in coordinating your online strategy.
